Handsome Hooligans Barber Lounge & Shave Spa is a professional hair cutting and shaving establishment that opened its doors in November of 2014 near historic downtown San Leandro, California, with a mission of providing the availability and tradition of excellence in barbering, exclusively for men. Handsome Hooligans Barber Lounge & Shave Spa purpose is a rather simple one, to offer unique, quality, and timeless barbershop experience at very reasonable and affordable prices.
Barber’s Grooming Tips
Prepare
Clean the area you are going to shave with a face wash that contains some kind of salicylic acid to remove dirt, oil and dead skin. This will help the razor slide across your skin and keep you from clogging up your pores with dirt on your freshly shaven skin.
Lather Up
Decide to use shaving cream or shaving gels. Some experts prefer the old style shaving cream. Use a badger brush or similar shaving brush to apply the shaving cream. The cream provides a superior lubrication and the brush helps stand the hair up
Shave
By now your beard should be well prepared for a close shave. You should use a sharp razor with good weight and balance. There are many to choose from but go with something that is effective and comfortable for your skin type. Choices include double-edge razors (recommended), multi-blade cartridge razors (I.e. Gillette Mach 3), or of course the straight edge (for advanced users).
Moisturize
Finally, moisturize your skin with a good aftershave balm or facial moisturizer. This will soothe your skin and protect it from the elements. A good moisturizer has numerous benefits but mostly it works by duplicating and strengthening the role of your body’s own naturally produced sebum (your skin’s natural restorative liquid) and thus protects the skin against excessive moisture loss. Oh, and it helps reduce the development of wrinkles and fine lines. That's reason enough to moisturize in my book!
